Quick Tip: Pack a Nursing Basket

As a side note, I call this my nursing basket, but this post is not meant to exclude bottle-feeding families. I don’t really know whether having a basket like this would be helpful for moms who formula feed because I don’t think it takes nearly as long or requires as many supplies as nursing does — at least for me — in the beginning. I’d love to hear from those of you who bottle feed, though, if this is something that would be useful for you as well!

Nursing a newborn can be quite a time commitment in the beginning as everyone gets adjusted and figures things out. Having a nursing basket stocked with all of the things I need — or might need — makes things a lot less stressful for all of us.

This time, my basket includes:

:: Diapers
:: Wipes
:: Lansinoh
:: Extra nursing pads
:: Nail clippers (for the baby)
:: Nail file (for me)
:: Extra burp cloths/receiving blankets
:: Magazines
:: A full water bottle
:: Tissues
:: A sling

However, you’re not limited to the list above when putting together a basket. Maybe you get the munchies while nursing and want to keep it stocked with a few healthy snacks as well. Or if you watch TV while nursing, it might become a good home for your TV remote for a time. The possibilities are endless, but the key is to put anything that you might need or want to have access to while nursing within arm’s reach!
