1. Looking back on your childhood, what events do you think shaped who you are today?
Well, I still am a recovering middle child. I was fiercely loved, but often overlooked as one of three natural children in a huge foster family. Crisis seemed to be a part of day to day life, so I developed independence, determination and possibly some attention seeking behaviours.

1. Looking back on your childhood, what events do you think shaped who you are today?
I’m the oldest of 4 and grew up in a Tiny Town. My dad was my junior high social studies teacher, my high school basketball coach, and my principal during my senior year! My mom was our school nurse. School was community, and community was everything. Those values definitely carried over to my own motherhood and the way we raise our own family.
Shockingly, no. I was actually quite driven in high school and college, and planned on a 30 year teaching career. When rumor had it spring semester of my senior year in college that “no one gets to teach at that school unless you know somebody,” I immediately applied with a We’ll see about that! attitude.
